L’Équipe are reporting that Maghnes Akliouche (21), whose continuation at AS Monaco has been in doubt, is set to extend his contract with the Principality club.
Akliouche, a graduate of Monaco’s prestigious La Diagonale academy, has been linked with a move away from his formative club. According to L’Équipe, Monaco turned down a €10m offer for Akliouche from French rivals Stade Rennais in January. Lille OSC also have a long-standing interest in the player.
The player’s entourage has also been vocal in the media, evoking a potential loan or permanent move during an interview with Nice-Matin during the winter transfer window. However, the player now looks set to remain at the Stade Louis II. Foot Mercato reported on Wednesday evening that negotiations between the player and the club were “on the right path.”
L’Équipe now reports that the player, whose current deal expires at the end of next season, is set to sign a two-year extension, tying him to the club until 2026. With uncertainty surrounding his future, Akliouche has seen his gametime reduced this calendar year (122 minutes in 2023), but his long-term commitment to the club could open up more opportunities for the French U20 international to feature more regularly between now and the end of the season, and beyond.
