Ligue 1’s fifteenth-placed side Strasbourg have announced they will undertake extension work at their historic Stade de la Meinau, at the end of which the 27,500-seater will be able to host 32,000 fans by 2026. The club and the City of Strasbourg have spoken to the media for a joint press conference this Tuesday morning to lay out the plans for the upcoming renovation and extension work. The cost of the renovation has increased from €100m to €160m.

This summer, work will begin to extend the stadium’s South end. From next season, the ground’s capacity will be reduced to 20.000 as the club will revamp the South and West stands. Then for the 2025-2026 season, the North and East ends will be renovated. Works are expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2026-2027 season.
“For us, this is a major step forward ! Renovating La Meinau means building the Racing of tomorrow”, said club president and owner Marc Keller. This season, Strasbourg have always played in a sold-out La Meinau.
