According to the Rheinische Post, Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in Magdeburg’s Mortiz Kwarteng.

The 25-year-old is seen as a replacement for Lars Stindl who is moving to Karlsruhe in the summer. The attacker’s contract expires in 2024 meaning Magdeburg could sell him now, it is reported Kwarteng could cost close to €1.5m.

However, Gladbach will face competition from Kwateng’s hometown team VfB Stuttgart and Bochum. Kwarteng sees a move in the summer as the next step in his career.

Kwarteng has played 28 times for Magdeburg this season as they sit 11th in the 2.Bundesliga. The 25-year-old has 10 goals and three assists.

Gladbach are embarking on a rebuild this summer as a host of their first-team players will leave. Already confirmed to leave in the summer are Ramy Bensebaini, Marcus Thuram and the previously mentioned Lars Stindl. While Gladbach have also completed the signing of Lukas Ullrich from Hertha Berlin.
