Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed in a medical statement that left-back Nuno Mendes will not play again this season. The young Portuguese player suffered an injury to his right hamstring during the last game against FC Lorient. The statement said the following:
“Victim of a high injury of the right hamstring during the last game against Lorient, Nuno Mendes will not resume the competition before the end of the season.”
The 20-year-old left the pitch at the end of the match against Les Merlus with what was originally a “muscular problem” and the extent of the injury was initially unknown. However, after medical examinations, it was revealed that Mendes will need to rest until the end of the season to recover fully.
This news is a blow to PSG as they continue their pursuit of the Ligue 1 title with Marseille and Lens hot on the heels of the Parisians after their slip up against the Breton side. Christophe Galtier’s side face Troyes next weekend in Ligue 1.
