Palladino: ‘The Roma bench were scandalous’

Monza boss Raffaele Palladino was incensed by the behaviour of the Roma bench during their 1-1 draw: ‘ It was scandalous’. His comments followed Jose Mourinho’s critical assessment of the match, which focused on the refereeing performance of Daniele Chiffi, who the Special One referred to as ‘the worst referee I’ve ever seen.’ Responding to the comments, Palladino offered his own thoughts, but refused to be critical of the officiating:

“I’m just sorry I won’t be able to hug my friend Juric at the next game (against Torino at the weekend, ed.)

“In my opinion he (Chiffi) was among the best referees, he did nothing wrong. If anything, I was angry with the fourth official.

“I have never seen an opposing bench protest like today’s, it was scandalous. I lent more energy to them than to what was happening on the field.”
