Luciano Spalletti after Napoli’s Scudetto win: “Thank goodness I managed to give this happiness to the Neapolitans”

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti was visibly emotional after the Partenopei’s Scudetto win and he revealed that he did it for the fans.

Napoli needed a point from the game at Udinese and a goal from Victor Osimhen made sure that they picked up 1-1 draw in Udine. While the celebrations were manic at the Dacia Arena, the jam-packed Maradona went ballistic not just when Osimhen scored but also when the Scudetto was confirmed.

Spalletti has become the oldest manager to win Serie A and he spoke to DAZN (via TMW) about the triumph. Emotional, he stated that he isn’t someone who enjoys victories because happiness is fleeting and he dedicated the win the Neapolitans who work hard everyday and who can use the win as an escape from the fears and anxieties that cloud their lives.

“The problem for those who are used to always working hard, like me, is that they can’t even fully enjoy victories. Happiness is a fleeting thing . Now I’ve won, ok, but then you have to work again. It’s a life approach that takes away something from you. Seeing the Neapolitans smile, the Neapolitans happy is the greatest emotion.

“They are the ones who transfer happiness to me. They will be able to overcome the hard moments of life by thinking back to this moment here. So it is an important thing. Now I feel more relaxed. Thank goodness, I managed to give this happiness to the Neapolitans.”

He also dedicated the title win to the players, to the people of the city of Naples and to his family. The Italian said: “Firstly, I dedicate it to the players, who deserved this happiness. The second to all the public, to all of Naples: it’s for you, Naples! And to the club, to everyone who works in this club. And also a little to Matilde, who is my daughter, and to all my family, friends, my brother Marcello.”

Spalletti has been around the blocks in Italian football for quite sometime now and for how he has helped the Italian game with his fresh ideas elsewhere and at Napoli, he deserves to win the Scudetto.
