Last month, reports had emerged that Bruno Génésio would be seriously considering putting an end to his tenure as Rennes head coach. The Ligue 1 club quickly rebuffed those reports with an official statement. Now, L’Equipe claim that the former Lyon manager is indeed set to remain in the Stade Rennais dugout.
Génésio arrived at Rennes two years ago following the resignation of Julien Stéphan. With the 56-year-old at the helm, Rennes have improved and produced free-flowing football. Les Rouge et Noir have always qualified for European competition with Génésio as his manager. The team are still in the fight to qualify for European football this season, as they sit sixth with only a three-point deficit on Lille.
L’Equipe report that Génésio will remain in Brittany whatever the season’s outcome. He is tied with Les Rouge et Noir over a contract set to expire in 2025. Rennes are set opt for stability. but the club have outlined that necessary changes are well overdue in order to improve the recruitment process, with Génésio having more of a say in the way Rennes conduct their transfer activity next summer.
