In the wake of protests last week aimed at the upper management, coach, and several players, the rift between Paris Saint-Germain and its ultras does not look to be narrowing any time soon.
According to RMC Sport this afternoon, PSG has blocked 450 members of the Collectif Ultras Paris from going to tomorrow’s away match against Troyes. Sources close to the supporters have told RMC that they believe the cancelling of the tickets is linked to the protests, while several fans are considering travelling to Troyes anyway. The ultras were to make up half of the league leaders’ overall allocation for the game. L’Équipe indicate that the move is indeed a sanction linked to the protests.
Although the match was initially not classed as at-risk by the DNLH – the police force specifically tasked with countering hooliganism – the authorities are now keeping an eye on it, and security could be increased following last week’s events, which notably saw a group of individuals show up at Neymar’s home. Having been contacted by RMC, PSG themselves declined to comment.
