According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain are determined to move on from Neymar for the second consecutive year. Despite unsuccessful attempts in the past, PSG Sporting Director Luis Campos has reportedly already started the necessary steps to maximise the chances of a successful departure for the Brazilian.
The recent actions of some PSG supporters, who went as far as showing up at Neymar’s residence in Bougival to demand his exit from the club, have officially been condemned by the club. However, behind the disapproval of the method lies a striking similarity to the intentions of PSG’s management.
Foot Mercato had previously revealed in March 2022 that Neymar was being offered to numerous European clubs. The arrival of Luis Campos did not change the situation; on the contrary, he also attempted to offload the Brazilian forward, albeit without official confirmation in order to avoid diminishing the player’s value.
Neymar’s pride and the prospect of the upcoming World Cup served as the driving forces behind his outstanding performances during the first half of the season. However, his efforts may not be sufficient to reverse the club’s intentions. According to inside sources, PSG has once again initiated the process to part ways with Neymar this summer, enlisting agents to find a suitable exit route for the player.
Previously, Chelsea had been mentioned as one of the potential suitors, with Todd Boehly seemingly unable to resist the opportunity to secure such a signing. However, Foot Mercato had also disclosed that Manchester United are considering a similar move. Furthermore, other exotic destinations might emerge as possible options in the coming weeks.
The crucial factor now revolves around Neymar’s position, as he is reportedly “shocked” by the events that took place on Wednesday. It appears that he is now open to the idea of leaving PSG, marking the first time since 2019 when he was determined to return to FC Barcelona.
However, Neymar is well aware that with a massive contract that extends until 2027, he has no particular reason to rush into a decision. Despite the failed attempts to secure an exit last summer, Luis Campos now appears to have a better chance of succeeding in this summer transfer window.
