Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oliver Glasner suspended for one game

The DFB have today suspended Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner for one game.

The 48-year-old was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct in Eintracht Frankfurt’s defeat against Hoffenheim at the weekend after he kicked a second ball onto the pitch shortly before the break.

Glasner’s ban means that he will miss Saturday’s game against Mainz.

It’s been somewhat of a mixed week for Eintracht Frankfurt. They secured a place in the DFB Pokal final, where they face RB Leipzig, after coming from behind to beat Stuttgart. But defeat against Hoffenheim means they have now gone 10 games without a win in the Bundesliga.

Their goal of European football hangs by a thread with the Hessen club, sitting ninth, five points behind Bayer Leverkusen with three games remaining. If SGE are to qualify for European football, beating RB Leipzig in the German Cup final seems the only option.

It’s also reported today that Glasner and Eintracht Frankfurt will part ways following their poor league form. A meeting will be held in the coming days to decide whether or not it will be an immediate separation, or if Glasner will remain in charge until the end of the season.

It’s a stark contrast from last season when Eintracht won the Europa League.
