Real Madrid vs Getafe Preview

Real Madrid stadium

The Bernabeu welcomes struggling Getafe for one of the standout matches of matchday 34. Real Madrid will take this game seriously to maximise the confidence and momentum heading into the Etihad next week, while Getafe need every point they can gather to survive relegation.

Man City were Real’s latest opponents. It was a fascinating game for many different reasons. World class players playing against each other. World class managers in opposing dugouts and two passionate and ambitious fanbases backing their team all the way to Istanbul. Carlo Ancelotti will be proud of his team’s performance against one of, if not the best team in world football. They nullified Erling Haaland and dominated for large spells of the game.

Though Ancelotti and his players will take this game seriously, wholesale changes can still be expected. The likes of Karim Benzema, Vini Junior, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric can be expected to start the game from the bench to rest their legs before Wednesday’s clash.

There’s hardly any room to breathe at the bottom of the table. Five teams above 18th position can potentially go down. Which means that even if Getafe stun the Bernabeu and take all three points, they are still far from safety.

On a positive note for Los Azulones, they beat Celta Vigo by a goal to nil in their most recent match. Eres Unal’s third minute penalty gave José Bordalás and his team all three points. Ultimately, it was a good performance and every player fought for the badge. The fans were extremely influential in helping them over the line. Will they go to the Santiago Bernabeu and win to boost their fight against the drop?

Getafe will be up for it from minute one. But so will the Bernabeu and the eleven players who are wearing white. Getafe will have their chances, so it’s a matter of if they’re clinical or not and against Madrid at the Bernabeu, you have to be.
