OGC Nice head coach Didier Digard has revealed that France interntional Khéphren Thuram (22) sustained a season-ending muscle strain last week during Les Aiglons’ 2-0 away loss at Strasbourg. The youngest son of World Cup winner Lilian Thuram pulled his hamstring just before half-time at the Stade de la Meinau. “There is a good chance that his very long season will be over a little faster than it should have been“, Digard said in his pre-game press conference that L’Équipe attended. Nice will host Toulouse on Sunday afternoon for Ligue 1 matchday 36.
Until now, Thuram had not missed a single match with Nice this season. The 22-year-old has played 48 games in all competitions. Digard took his share of the blame relating his player’s injury setback. “At some point, I have to think about the player and give him a breather. I didn’t and I blame myself for it.” Considering Thuram will surely be sought after in this summer’s transfer window, it is entirely possible that the France international has already played his final game with OGC Nice. The Riviera club reportedly value Marcus Thuram’s brother at €60m. with English and German clubs monitoring the situation.
