Sky Germany reports that Darmstadt centre-back Patric Pfeiffer is set to join Augsburg in the summer when his contract expires.

The contract is set to be until 2027 and the signing-on fee has already been agreed upon. Executives at Augsburg have been working on the move for months while coach Enrico Maaßen has also been pushing for the 23-year-old. However, the move is not 100% certain.

Pfeiffer has played 24 times for Darmstadt this season as they push for a return to the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old has missed parts of the season through injury as the club sits one win away from promotion. The Ghana national joined Darmstadt in 2019 from his hometown team Hamburg for €250k.

The signing of Pfeiffer could likely be the second for Augsburg this summer as they are close to agreeing to a deal for Karlsruhe midfielder Tim Breithaupt.

Augsburg’s current options at centre-back include Jeffery Gouweleeuw, Reece Oxford, Felix Uduokhai and Maximilian Bauer.
