Football FanCast brings you the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours as Mikel Arteta eyes up a Bayern Munich midfielder, while another target snubs the Gunners with some brutal comments…
Gunners show interest in Joshua Kimmich
Marca: In what could be one of the stories of the summer, it appears that Bayern Munich ace Joshua Kimmich could be on the move this summer.
Indeed, this report in Spanish media notes that the midfielder could be a target of Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal as he enters the final two years of his contract.
It notes that his value won’t drop below €60m (£52m) and his £298k-per-week salary could be a stumbling block for Barca. Perhaps the Gunners could swoop in for the German with the extra financial boost of Champions League football.
Gift Orban insults Arsenal
Het Laatste Nieuws (via Sport Witness): Gent striker Gift Orban has been linked with a move to north London having had a fine season.
Indeed, with 19 goals and two assists in 19 games across all competitions this term, it’s not hard to see why the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been touted as possible destinations.
However, when talking about his future, it seems Orban has no great desire to join Arteta and co. When asked what his football dream is, he told Dutch media: “Playing in a big league. At a club where I feel comfortable and where I play. The Premier League is my ultimate dream. Manchester United, Liverpool or Manchester City (laughs).
“I don’t really like Arsenal that much – it’s like they don’t want to win titles. They play and sell players – that’s it. I want to go somewhere where they win prizes. At Real Madrid they don’t have time for tiki-taka, there they just grab titles.”
Cancelo mooted as White alternative
GIVEMESPORT: Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Arsenal could improve at right-back if they were to sign Joao Cancelo this summer.
The Manchester City man has been on loan at Bayern Munich since January and has been linked with a move to the Gunners.
Journalist Taylor praised Ben White in a recent interview but insisted that he’s not really a right-back and so Cancelo would be an ideal signing.
He said: “I think if Arsenal were to sign Cancelo, right-back would be the thinking. I still think right-back is an area for Arsenal where there is a little room for improvement. I think Ben White has been exceptional. To be honest, they could quite happily continue with him but he’s not a full-back, it’s important to remember that.”
