Malang Sarr (24), on loan at AS Monaco from Chelsea, has undergone surgery and is therefore unlikely to feature for Les Monégasques again.
Sarr has had a difficult spell at the Principality club. The Frenchman arrived at the beginning of the season on a season-long loan that, if certain conditions were met, would become permanent at the end of the season. However, Sarr has been used sparingly, even despite the mid-season departure of Benoît Badiashile to Chelsea.
Sarr hasn’t featured since mid-March. The reasons for his absence have been kept vague, however, the club has reportedly on a weekly basis in recent weeks, that the player was returning to fitness ahead of a return. The former OGC Nice centre-back has been seen undergoing individual training sessions at La Turbie by Get French Football News, although he has not trained with his teammates since the injury.
The Chelsea loanee has now revealed on Instagram that he has undergone successful surgery. “A big relief that we’ve been able to get rid of this issue,” said Sarr. The exact nature of his injury hasn’t been revealed. Sarr is now unlikely to feature again for Monaco and is set to return to parent club Chelsea in the summer.
