Inter have won the Coppa Italia for the second season running after beating Fiorentina, thereby sending a big warning to Manchester City ahead of the Champions League final.
Fiorentina did go ahead through Nico Gonzalez but Inter completed the comeback through Gonzalez’s Argentine teammate Lautaro Martinez, who scored twice in the first half to seal the win.
The win for the Nerazzurri means that they haven’t lost even once in the Coppa Italia since Simone Inzaghi became manager and that shows how great the side is in knockout games. They did lose to Liverpool in the Champions League last season and apart from that, they haven’t lost a knockout tie under Inzaghi so far in his time at the Nerazzurri.
With the clash against Manchester City coming up, this record would put Inter in good stead, especially considering how Martinez has found form in recent weeks for the side. While City would still be favourites, Inter perhaps aren’t too far off.
