Form guide and next three matches after Brighton draw

Manchester City have just three fixtures left in their 2022/23 season following a 1-1 draw with Brighton on the south coast.

Fresh from securing the Premier League title over the weekend, the Citizens went ahead through Phil Foden but were pegged back by Julio Enciso’s awesome effort from distance as the points were shared.

City now have one final league game to partake in before FA Cup and Champions League finals to round off the season.

Here’s their recent form and those upcoming games analysed.

Man City haven’t lost a game in any competition since February, when they suffered from their Tottenham curse in a 1-0 defeat in north London. They’ve played 24 games since, drawing four and winning the rest.

They’re in pretty good form, coming through a challenging May in excellent shape to set up a grandstand end to the season.

The month started with a straightforward 3-0 win over West Ham as Nathan Ake, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden struck before Sam Allardyce was downed 2-1 in his first game as Leeds boss.

A 1-1 draw at Real Madrid hinted at a closer second leg, one City would enjoy to an incredible degree with a 4-0 thumping. In between those two games was an easy 3-0 win at Everton which ensured only one more victory was required to seal the league title.

It wasn’t required as title rivals Arsenal lost to Nottingham Forest before City beat Chelsea 1-0, prompting party time around Manchester.

Brentford vs Manchester City – Premier League

Man City deployed a pretty strong lineup on Wednesday night against Brighton, with Guardiola previously revealing his admiration for the Seagulls alongside next opponents Brentford.

The Bees can take eighth place if they better Tottenham’s result on the final day of the Premier League season, with City likely to deploy an even more relaxed XI with two finals on the horizon.

The second of only four league defeats City have suffered this season came at home against Brentford – brace scorer Ivan Toney won’t be playing this time around, but Guardiola will still feel he has a score to settle with Thomas Frank.

Manchester City vs Manchester United – FA Cup final

As far as FA Cup stakes go, you can’t get much richer than a Manchester derby at Wembley.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side have enjoyed victory over City already this season, triumphing 2-1 in January as Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford earned them a comeback win.

United have managed to disrupt City’s perfectly oiled machine in the past from unexpected positions and this is the banana skin Guardiola and his side must step over to continue their treble bid.

Manchester City vs Inter – Champions League final

If all goes well for City, they’ll make the trip to Istanbul looking to put the final decorative bow on a historic treble.

Final opponents Inter aren’t as illustrious as Champions League royalty like Real Madrid or Bayern Munich and are heavy underdogs, but in Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez they have a forward line capable of hurting anyone.

The onus will be on City to force the game with the Nerazzurri likely to attempt to soak up possession. It seems one-sided on paper, but City are no strangers to upsets in the Champions League and will have to guard against complacency.
