In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Freiburg vs Borussia Dortmund

My match of the week is Freiburg against Dortmund. I think this is a fascinating game based on storyline alone. Dortmund had a poor start to the season and reports suggest discontent behind closed doors. Can Freiburg capitalize on that discontent? Something suggests that they just might adding further intrigue to an already complicated Dortmund season.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • Bayern Munich 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • RB Leipzig 4-1 Augsburg
  • Freiburg 2-2 Borussia Dortmund
  • Wolfsburg 1-2 Union Berlin
  • Mainz 0-3 Stuttgart
  • FC Köln 1-1 Hoffenheim
  • Bochum 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Heidenheim 1-2 Werder Bremen
  • Darmstadt 1-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen

There’s little doubt that Friday night’s clash between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen will be the match that everyone in German football will keep at least one eye on. Thomas Tuchel’s side still look far from perfect and in Xabi Alonso’s high-flying Leverkusen side the German head coach not only faces a new challenger to his team’s dominance in the Bundesliga but also a potential successor in waiting. This game could go either way and should be a fascinating tactical battle between two of German football’s most intriguing coaches.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • Bayern Munich 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • FC Köln 1-2 Hoffenheim
  • Freiburg 0-1 Borussia Dortmund
  • Mainz 1-3 Stuttgart
  • RB Leipzig 2-0 Augsburg
  • Wolfsburg 1-1 Union Berlin
  • Bochum 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Heidenheim 1-2 Werder Bremen
  • Darmstadt 1-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Scores after MD3: Manu – 21, Stefan – 28
