Napoli boss Rudi Garcia has backed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to return to form amidst his ongoing dry run of form.
The Georgian was a vital player in Napoli’s march to the Scudetto last season but he hasn’t scored even once since March of this. So far this season, he has picked up one assist but he has picked up a total of three assists since March but the fact that he hasn’t scored is alarming.
The Partenopei take on Genoa tomorrow evening and Napoli boss Rudi Garcia was asked about Kvaratskhelia’s receent goalscoring form and he backed the winger. He revealed that he isn’t worried about the Georgian’s recent struggles in front of goal.
The Frenchman said: “Nothing, he came back yesterday, he played 180 minutes, they had difficulties in the first match, a little better in the second, but I’m not worried about him. He was missing in the first half against Lazio due to a bit of luck, there were deflected or blocked shots, he’ll be back to scoring goals or assists as soon as he’s well. He didn’t have the 90 minutes with Lazio, but two matches against Georgia is good news for us.”
During this phase, the 22-year-old hasn’t always been fit and a 100 percent. Last season, he had picked up an injury towards the end of the campaign and he had missed the first game of the current campaign after picking up an injury during the pre-season games.
But the fact that he played in both the games for Georgia during pre-season should be a good sign for Garcia’s men.
