Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini hit back after his teams 3-2 loss to Fiorentina, taking aim at the crowd in the Artemio Franchi. Atalanta ultimately slumped to a 3-2 defeat, their consecutive away loss away from home, despite having taken the lead early in teh first half.
Speaking with DAZN after the match, Gaspeirni pointed to the performance of his players, saying he believes his team had enough to win the match, while also reserving a special insult for Franchi crowd, who were vocal with their insults during the match:
“There were conditions to win it, we had to take advantage of the chances and not make mistakes. We ruined the game with bad incidents.
“Inattentions changed the course of a game we were doing well. We went down instead of accelerating, we were not decisive. We compromised a game.”
“I would like the Europa League to help us, but between Florence and Frosinone were two games we should not have lost: we have a lot to regret because of us.”
“Conditioned by Thursday’s game? Scamacca did not have a good week before the break, up front we varied the set-up a lot. When you play three games we can use changes as all teams do. The important thing is to be decisive. Lookman did well today, out of everyone he is the one in the best condition.”
“The Fiorentina fans treat us like a big team, these are the insults that important teams receive. It’s not pleasant, sometimes it seems to me like a stadium of oxen calling the donkey a cuckold (the pot calling the kettle black).”
