Manuel Neuer must wait for recall to German national side

According to Bild, Manuel Neuer must wait for recall to the German national side after making his return from a broken leg against Darmstadt on Saturday.

As things stand, Julian Nagelsmann is not planning to call up Manuel Neuer for Germany’s friendlies in November against Turkey and Austria. This will give Neuer time to regain match practice and if possible return to his old form, on the other hand, this does only give one international break to decide on Germany’s number one ahead of the European Championship next summer.

In Neuer’s absence, Marc-André ter Stegen has been given a long run of games as Germany’s number one and given Neuer’s performances at the World Cup, ter Stegen may be the number one when the Euro’s kick-off in Munich next June.

It is also worth mentioning that during his time at Bayern, Nagelsmann was open to Neuer not being the undisputed number one and was willing to allow Yann Sommer and eventually Alexander Nübel to fight for the position once they all returned. However, after his dismissal, Thomas Tuchel has been adamant that Neuer would return to number one.
