Lautaro Martinez has had a fantastic start to the season. 11 league goals in only nine starts, finishing 20th in the Ballon d’Or rankings and now it seems that a new contract is on the horizon.
Martinez’s agent was questioned on the Argentine’s desire to stay at Inter. In an interview with FCInterNews (as reported by Gazzetta), the striker’s agent Alejandro Camano said that Martinez loves the club and has every reason to want to stay.
Camano said: “Inter wants to renew Lautaro’s contract and we want to extend it. It’s not just money that counts: he is the captain of the team, he lives in a city that loves him and he reciprocates.”
For these reasons, there is a high likelihood that the striker will be extending his contract past 2026.
Camano also had some interesting things to say regarding the Ballon d’Or, stating: “The Ballon d’Or? I think one day he can win it.”
These are bold claims indeed, but judging from the 12 months that Martinez has had there is no reason why he cannot push on even more.
He is still only 26 years old, and possibly not even in his prime yet. Inter fans will be hoping that if he is to challenge for the greatest individual prize in football, he does it in Milan.
