The powers that be at AC Milan have identified a surprise target to reinforce the club’s backline with a view to the 2nd half of the season.
The stopper in the sights of the board at San Siro? Lloyd Kelly. For those not familiar with his name, Kelly is a 25-year-old central defender, who is currently plying his trade in the Premier League, with Bournemouth.
The Englishman has featured from the off in five of Bournemouth’s ten league outings across the term to date, albeit with his availability having been limited by a niggling calf issue.
Nevertheless, his performances when fit have been of an impressive nature, so much so that Kelly could be in line for a move to one of European football’s heavyweights following the turn of the year.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Milan are working on a deal to sign Kelly in January as they look to reinforce their project with younger players This comes amid something of an injury crisis at the heart of Stefano Pioli’s backline, after both Pierre Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino picked up long-term blows against Napoli last weekend.
Milan could yet face competition for Kelly, though, with it added that rivals Juventus are ‘also interested and informed on conditions of the deal’.
