Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is now under investigation from the English FA, after having been banned for about ten months.
Tonali was previously found guilty in the illegal betting scandal, after he confessed to betting on football games and he even confessed to betting on Milan and Brescia games during his time at the clubs. But he has now been banned for ten months, but it may not end there.
La Gazzetta dello Sport state that the English FA are investigating Tonali and want to know whether he gambled even on Premier League games, following his move to Newcastle United this past summer. The main objective is to know more about the midfielder’s gambling addiction and whether it crossed certain boundaries in England.
Authorities also want to know about whether Milan knew about the player’s gambling issues or not and Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth’s words also echoed that. Newcastle also want to understand how no one knew more about the player’s issues, when he was signed in the summer.
If Tonali is found guilty of betting even in Premier League games during his time at the Magpies, the sanction could be increased. Newcastle are also understanding the parameters of how they can defend themselves from a financial perspective.
